Major Events/Dates

The church remained in the Bethel Association from the date of its organization until 1876, when it united with other churches in Union County to form the Union County Association.

Woman's Missionary Union was organized in 1908.

In 1941, Vacation Bible School was held for the first time.

In 1943, worship services were held on the first and third Sunday afternoons. Previously services were only held on the third Sunday afternoons. To be able to take care of increased Sunday School attendance, four Sunday School rooms were built. Prior to this, Sunday School classes were held in the corners of the sanctuary, with curtains pulled to separate the classes.

On January 23, 1944, Training Union was organized. Mrs. Lillian Bentley was elected Director and Mrs. Ella Eison as Assistant Director.

On November 23, 1952, worship services were changed from every first and third Sunday afternoons to services every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. Prior to this, Hebron shared the pastor of one of the larger churches in Union.

A Girls Auxiliary was organized in the fall of 1952, Royal Ambassadors was organized in 1953, and Young Women's Auxiliary and Brotherhood were organized in 1954.

On January 20, 1957, with Rev. Maurice Garner as pastor, Hebron began its first full time service in the history of the church.

During church year 1957-58, the Juniors and Intermediates began having their own open assembly in Sunday School and Training Union. Also, Cradle Roll started.

Choir robes and yokes were purchased for the choir in March 1972.

Unified budget for 1976 was voted on and approved on December 21, 1975.

On June 26, 1983, the church constitution was approved.

In October 1983, platt of cemetery is ready, Charter is back from Columbia, and the cemetery fund was started.

On May 6, 1984, the mortgage on the sanctuary was burned. Rev. Carl Campbell preached for homecoming.

Children's Church started in 1988.

Under the leadership of Dr. Joe Bridges on August 18, 1996, the Team-Kids program began. Many children have been influenced through this program.

In December 1966, the church voted to form the Benevolence Committee. The committee was formed on March 16, 1997.

In January 2000, the church voted to have business conferences and deacon's meetings once a quarter. The church can have called conference meetings at any time.

In 2002, we began having a special celebration for July 4th. We had worship service, food, and entertainment at Rose Hill State Park. In 2003, we celebrated at Foster Park. In 2004, the celebration was held at Hebron. In 2005, we returned to Rose Hill. We were entertained by a gospel group and enjoyed food and fellowship. We remained at church for our 2006 day of food and fun and have celebrated at the church since.
