An orphan boy named Eubanks was "bound" to a man named Peake under a legal contract which provided that when the boy was 21 years of age, Peake was to give him a horse, bridle, and saddle. Peake gave the boy an inferior horse. Complaint was made against him, and the matter was carried before the church for settlement, with the results stated here.
It might be of interest to know that in the early days of the church, when a person was drunk, missed church, or did any wrong, he was summoned by a person or committee appointed by the church to answer in person at the next meeting to such action. Three different types of marks were used to distinguish what happened to each person, if anything did. These are the marks used: dismissed, X dead, F excommunicated, and one might be surprised at the number dismissed and excommunicated.
In June 1994, a policy was passed canceling Sunday evening services on holidays which occurred on Sunday - Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.
On September 27, 1998, a cemetery policy was approved by the congregation. Main points: burial be restricted to church members and their heirs through three generations; All other requests for burial would be approved by the cemetery committee.
